Making a storage platform bed does not have to be a complex project. If you use ready-made storage cubbies in base-your new storage platform bed just got a lot easier.

Place the Cubby units in a rectangle, mid century modern storage bed holes facing out, with the two 75-inch units placed on either side of the cubic 15-inch cubbies. To change the size of the bed, use longer or wider cubby units and adjust the length of the slats as necessary. Glue wood planks to the inside of the cubbies. The planks are anchors, so they must be adjacent to each other on the walls of the cubbies: one at the top and bottom of the side walls of the cubic cubby, one at the top and bottom of the sides adjacent to the cubic cubby, on the inside of the long cubby units.
Pre-drill two holes through each of the anchors. These holes will go through the anchor, through the wall of the Cubby. Screw the Cubby storage unit together with the pre-drilled holes. Place modern storage bed along the sides of the interior of the frame, and frac12; inch below the edge. There will be 45 inches on the sides of the interior of the frame, so place the brackets on both sides, with ten inches between them, so that they will support the wooden rods. Screw the brackets into the sides of the frame.
